Homework:  1) Give an account about how you implement technology in your daily practice (blog, 2-3 paragraphs). 2) While having been with your computer/digital device for a while, decide to leave it and turn it off. Find artful ways to exit the online world. Monitor closely your Turn-on/Switch-off experiences and make them be the beginning of a creative experiment. Document your experience on your blog and bring the visual representation of what comes out of this into next class so we can share the outcomes. 3) Research a media art teacher and describe how s/he uses technology/media in his/her art class. 4) Bring a piece of technology into our next class; choose with care.

I like to work at various times of the day. Modern technology has made it totally possible. The world of the artist is lonely and I like to socialize and be stimulated by society and images. With technology this is possible. At nights, I can watch a good movie or TV show and still create.
ReplyDeleteDuring the day, I take it with me to eat or on the commuter train. One very important issue is that I can fix errors or do an enhancement almost immediately. And as a side benefit, I don't need to clean up a mess.LOL
I did a save as, close the program and let the computer sleep on its own. Then I close the top, put it back on its shelf and plug the recharger making it the beginning of a sensual experience. Then I took a deep breath allowing the sigh of relief to gush through my libido. Each time I do this this I experience the groove of days gone by, causing me to rip off my clothes, groove on the experience and begin to paint or sculpt of create a collage of ecstasy. The experience is totally taoistic.
My mentor and mind fullfilling experience has been the honor of working with Maurizio Pelligrin. Maurizio freed us to combine painting, sculpture and video. He did this by encouraging us to experiment, use the technology around us and don't be afraid to take a chance. His idea of new media, was simply, each piece of art is new media, in that it comes from our unique self . For me, art is like making love you never know when you are finished. I do feel that I need to mention that Dali, Raushenberg and Pollock were all new media artist in that they were trail blazers for what we have today.
